As young girls we were very familiar with the term self-esteem and how we often felt like we needed a boost in that area. A negative look from a classmate or a smart comment about how we looked and it would rock our world. Now that we are grown women, there are still times when we don’t feel very confident or sure of ourselves. We judge ourselves harshly when things don’t go the way we planned. If we gain a few pounds or don’t achieve the level of success we hoped for, we can be our own worst critic. The negative self-talk in your head can cause you to get stuck in a downward spiral. One of the best ways to keep yourself smiling and moving forward is to be intentional about boosting our sense of self or self-estten on a daily basis. Our sense of self is directly connected to our mental health. The better we feel about ourselves, the more postive and strong our mental health will be.
For the next month let’s focus on intentionally building ourselves up and giving our self-esteem a boost with the Boost Youself Up Challenge! The challenge consists of 25 activites and exercises that you can do on a daily basis. You can print out the chart and choose which exercise you will do each day. Once you complete the exercise, then cross it off the list. Spend a few minutes journaling about how you are feeling about yourself prior to starting the challenge. I often ask my coaching clients to rate how the feel about themselves on a scale of 1 – 10. The better you feel about yourself, the higher the rating. Remember to be honest with yourself. This is all about you. If you can’t be honest with yourself, then who can you be honest with. Be gentle with yourself and don’t judge yourself harshly. Where you are right now is not as important as where you will be after 30 days of working on you. When you finish the challenge rate yourself again using the scale and see how much as changed.
